Laskar pelangi (the rainbow troops) is the one of Indonesian movies which has been successful. This movie is based on a true story from the book writer Andrea Hirata. This movie is in nominasi as 2009 Berlin International Film Festival, Officila Sellection Hongkong International Film Festival, Best Film and Best Editor Nomination Asian film Award’s 2009 and The Biggest Box Office Hit in Indonesian History. Coldhand from Riri Riza and Mira Lesmana as director make this movie became amazing and the song made in by group band Nidji are became hits.

The movie location is in south Sumatra. The photograph just so amazing. The ocean look so virgin and is so wonderfull. The people and the story in the movie just like original life. They not made up. Not like Indonesian tv series when it is only rich life they show.

Maybe it is a little late for me to watch this movie. This movie has been played in theaters in begin 2009. I was away from country by that time so I missed that movie. I can buy pirated DVD movies if I want but it will be without subtitle. My plan was to watch that movie with my husband. I want to show him other Indonesian movie when is so different with Indonesia tv series. I keep my longing to watch until I found that movie with subtittle even have to original dvd. But… And again better to bougth the original dvd for laskar pelangi cos that movie was good for education and good to teach my kids.  

That was such really good movie and very recomended movie. I can laugth, smile and sad. Esspecially in the part when Lintang, one of kid in the movie who’s really smart and so fast with counting. He’s won school competision and then he’s ride bicycle with document paper with his name as a winner. He’s look so exciting to show that to his father and then when his home, he can’t foundhis father cos his father was out for fishing. He just wait and wait. His father never come back and he never can come back to school. He need to taking care his youngess sister’s since his mother pass away and now his father was dissapear in the ocean. He wrote a letter to his teacher by saying " dear my teacher, my father passaway. Maybe I will come to school just for say goodbye". That was exactly the sad part. I have lot’s of tear by that time.

Hope next in the future Indonesian can have more quality movie like this one.
